Hank Bamberger is originally from Richmond, VA, and began making dances at eight. As a rambunctious boy, he put all his energies into creating movement art. At fifteen, he started technically training in dance and made his way to New York City, where he received his BFA with a concentration in Modern dance from Marymount Manhattan College.

Upon graduation, he danced with the Paul Taylor II Dance Company for five years and then went on to own, operate, and serve as Head of Dance at the West End Academy of Dance in Richmond, VA. Mr Bamberger has done environmental choreography work for the United Nations Peace Boat and the Design Pavilion, NYC, in Times Square. He was selected as an Emerging Choreographer for Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning’s Making Moves Dance Festival in Jamaica Queens, New York. He is currently a PhD candidate in experimental choreographic practice research at Coventry University in the UK. The research revolves around executions of rigor and labor in 10-inch platform stiletto heels.

BDP generates innovation and classically beautiful movement through its delivery of queer performance art anti-techniques combined with avant-garde aesthetics and contemporary practices. The work consistently calls to the inquisItIve, violent, erotic body, formulating movement languages and visual art representations that reinforce the other. surrealist and dystopian landscapes are created as othering havens for investIgations of intimacy and absurdity.
